The locally-assembled 2016 Honda RS150R represents a new direction for Honda in the underbone category as it has traditionally not produced any engine larger than 125 cc for the kapchai market. The RS150R comes with a liquid-cooled 149.7 cc, four-valve DOHC engine that produces 15.6 horsepower at 9,000 rpm and 13.5 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm.
Power gets to the ground via a six-speed constant mesh gearbox and fuelling is with Honda’s PGM-FI, giving the 2016 Honda RS150R Euro 3 emissions compliance. A welded construction twin-perimeter frame cradles the engine, with non-adjustable telescopic forks in front, and a single shock absorber at the rear.
Braking is taken care of by hydraulic discs front and rear, with discs measuring 296 mm and 190 mm respectively, attached to cast alloy wheels. The 2016 Honda RS150R weighs in at 122 kg, and seat height is measured at 764 mm.
There is LED lighting in the headlights, and fuel is carried in a 4.5-litre tank under the seat.
